Lone Star Security Services, is a corporation offering security and policing. The occurence of privately-owned policing agencies, or “rent-a-cop”, as they are coloqiually called, was the result of two events: Firstly, the 1999 Seretech Decision of the US Supreme Court, which ruled that corporations can employ heavily armed security personnel. Secondly, the political instability that came after the Awakening, which led to many states and countries lacking the stability and self-sufficiency necessary for maintaining a law-enforcing infrastructure of their own. Thus, they often came to the decision to hire a company to take over. LSSS’s lack of apparent connections to any megacorp made them a prime candidate.
